How to start using sharing and tagging?

With cloud services, you can simply click on "Share Files" on the "Lifecycle and Collaboration" toolbar to directly share 3D models with stakeholders within SOLIDWORKS. Then enter the email address and your message, click the button to share the file, and the link will be sent to the recipient via email.

The recipient will receive an email and can click on the link in a web browser on any device. Then, they can see the entire 3D model, which will open in 3DPlay. They can rotate the model, decompose the assembly, mark and comment on it, and send it back directly from 3DPlay as a screenshot.

Then, you will receive notifications within SOLIDWORKS and be able to view the annotations and tags added to the model, and communicate back and forth without leaving SOLIDWORKS.

This workflow saves time for all stakeholders and eliminates tedious workflows, such as switching between various applications (including email, eDrawings, and CAD applications). You don't need to ask stakeholders to download the viewer. Don't worry about compatibility issues, everyone has the same software version.

Another advantage of this process is that your data is always secure. When you send the model, you can assign access permissions such as view and edit, and you can easily revoke permissions. If there are changes in the design, you can easily update and undo the last "sharing" so that everyone can access the latest version.
